Teachers tell us many kids will miss the start of the school year—not because they aren’t eager to learn, but because their families can’t afford the basics like food, uniforms, shoes and stationery. Others arrive too hungry to learn.
We help to remove some of these barriers by providing food, jackets and shoes to 1,100 school and early childhood centres nationwide. But many more children need our support.

It doesn’t take much for a child to fall behind and the results can be devastating. Children who are chronically absent from school – missing 15 days or more a term – have worse employment outcomes, higher rates of offending and are more likely to be victims of crime.
